The snow in the mountains was melting and Bunny had been dead for several weeks before we came to understand the gravity of our situation.

In this brilliant debut novel, Donna Tartt gives us a richly textured and hypnotic story of golden youth corrupted by its own moral arrogance.

Richard Papen had never been to New England before his nineteenth year. The Secret History - More than a Murder Thriller

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Intense and gripping. Original and complex characters. Philosophically and psychologically important.

Cons: Scattered with Latin and Greek idioms. Confusing if you don't speak the language, but tolerable.

Bottom Line:
Months later and I haven't stopped dipping into this book and re-reading parts. It is so readable, each sentance is so carefully chosen. A masterpiece in so many dimensions. Read More
